Friday, Nov. 4th, the Biology Dept. is hosting a guest speaker, Dr. Niki Patel, a post-doctoral scholar at the University of Connecticut in Storrs. Having recently completed her PhD. degree, Dr. Patel will be discussing her research on the biodiversity and evolution of seed- free plants (ferns and mosses). Her seminar will be held in LSC 138-139 at 1:30 to 2:30. We would love to have good representation from our Biology majors, and hope that you will join us at that time.

Today, Trinity's Biology Dept. hosted a research seminar by Prof. Shafqat Hussain of the College's own Anthropology Department. Prof. Hussain's seminar was titled "The Snow Leopard and the Sheep: Politics of Conservation in the Western Himalayas". Prof. Hussain's presentation was attended by a large, appreciative audience of faculty and students.

The Biology Dept. at Trinity College is hosting a research seminar by Prof. Joshua Gendron (Dept. of MCD Biology, Yale University), entitled "Illuminating the Plant Calendar". Prof. Gendron's presentation will be on Friday, Oct. 18th, at 1:30 PM, in 134 Life Sciences Center.

Trinity College's Biology Club and Biology Dept hosted a "meet and greet" for students on Monday evening, Oct. 7th, in the Life Sciences Center. Goodies included Pizza from First and Last Pizza as well as cakes, cookies, and brownies made by Biology faculty members.

Prof. Craig Schneider is giving a research seminar at the Marine Sciences Building at Rutgers University at 4 PM, on Thursday, Oct. 10th. Its title is "Bermuda: Tracing the Evolution of Seaweed Taxonomy Over Decades." For those who can't make it to New Jersey in time, it will be live streamed via the link provided below.
