CT just became the first state in the nation to approve a state-level graduate loan program with the help of and

By creating this program, CT is stepping in to protect students from being pushed into high cost private loans, protecting the workforce pipeline our communities depend on, and ensuring that access to advanced degrees are accessible for all.

May Day strong in Hartford

It's a priorities problem when there's money at the top but those in the classroom are fighting for minimum wage.

Excellent reporting by WFSB!

POV: You’re done being paid less than minimum wage. That spoon didn't stand a chance!

On Tax Day, we’re here to say that Connecticut can afford better priorities. Millionaires and billionaires must pay their fair share so public institutions like Charter Oak can stop relying on a pay model that leaves educators earning less than minimum wage.

Faculty should not be asked to subsidize a public college with poverty-level pay. We are calling on you to use the link in our bio to write to those who have the power to create change for the faculty at

At faculty are paid per student rather than by course. It helps keeps low-enrolled courses available so students can keep progressing toward their degrees.

But when a class runs with very few students, faculty pay falls low too. For example, a faculty member may agree to teach a course and later find out that it has one student and the pay is $594 - below minimum wage in CT.

If Charter Oak is going to rely on small classes to serve students, then faculty teaching them should receive a guaranteed minimum that respects their work.

Charter Oak faculty have also seen only one wage increase in 13 years!

Fair compensation now for the lowest paid faculty in the state!

02/11/2026

Connecticut can’t build a “workforce pipeline” on poverty wages.
If Charter Oak matters, faculty matter.

Connecticut’s public colleges are doing more with less. UConn. CSU. CT State. Charter Oak. Students and workers deserve stable funding — not austerity.
