Please join us in congratulating Myri Ayala '25, Kaila Dowd '25 and Meti Habtegiorgis '25 on being chosen for the Trinity Technology and Leadership Internship. They were selected from a pool of strong candidates after a successful interview. In fact, the pool of candidates was so strong that we decided to expand the internship and accept 3 students.

Myri, Kaila and Meti will work closely with the LITS team (Kristen Eshleman and Johnny Inghilterra) and Ewa Syta, Associate Professor and Chair of Computer Science during this semester to gain technical skills in cybersecurity and related areas as well as leadership experience. We are sure that they will be able to contribute to LITS and the Trinity community during their internship.

The internship is funded by Hybrid Pathways - thank you! https://www.hybridpathways.com

Congratulations Myri, Kaila and Meti!

Hybrid Pathways provides cloud consulting expertise and resources to help you predict, secure, and manage your Hybrid IT environments.

A series of talks by your fellow Computer Science and Computer Engineering students as well as alumni and external speakers. The talks will be focused on internship and job experiences and opportunities.

Today's meeting, #4 in our series, we will have two speakers who will share their summer internship experiences.

Sandy Ofori: Sandy is a senior in the Engineering department, concentrating in the biomedical field. In the summer of 2022, she had the opportunity of interning with Supira Medical, a medical device start-up in Campbell, California as an R&D intern with a focus on designing and machining fixtures, and testing material properties of percutaneous ventricular assist device.

Hanyang Luo: Hanyang Luo is a junior student in the Computer Science department. In summer 2022, he worked with Hybrid Pathways, a cloud security consulting company in Hartford, Connecticut as a software engineering intern. His work involved building a web application responsible for storing and executing cloud security auditing scripts.

We are excited for these upcoming talks and hope you will join us to take advantage of this unique opportunity. We extend a warm welcome to students majoring in Mathematics and anyone else who might be interested. Please feel free to spread the word and bring a friend!

This talk series is supported by the Departments of Computer Science and Engineering, CS Club as well as the Career & Life Design Center.

In case you forgot, it's still Cybersecurity Awareness Month! πŸ’»πŸ”’

Associate Professor of Computer Science Ewa Syta is working to make internet communications more secure, with the help of students and a four-year National Science Foundation (NSF) grant of $850,000.

β€œWe live our lives on the internet,” said Syta. β€œIt’s hard to think of any process that’s purely offline. But the internet was not designed to withstand adversarial action… for years, it was used by scientists and researchers to communicate and share data with one another. Now you have this massive infrastructure that is lacking security; we cannot start over, so we’re trying to fix it.”
