Pi Kappa Phi - Southern Miss

Pi Kappa Phi - Southern Miss Pi Kappa Phi at Southern Miss strives to be different. We are men of Class. We build the leaders of tomorrow.

Choosing a fraternity is often a difficult decision. The choice is more than simply preferring one house to another. It is more than a social budget or the advice of a friend. The right fraternity strives to recruit the highest quality members and shape them into driven and capable campus and community leaders. The right fraternity pursues greatness. The men of Pi Kappa Phi are redefining fraterni

ty on the Southern Miss campus. Instead of falling victim to the stereotypes of Greek Life, Pi Kapp is driven to build better men from its membership. Choosing Pi Kappa Phi is to pursue your greatest potential and become a man of CLASS.

-Character: Instilling in its membership the tenets of dignity, respect, and friendship, the rituals and traditions of Pi Kappa Phi develop gentlemen-scholars who uphold the highest moral character.

-Leadership: The men of Pi Kappa Phi are not willing to settle for status quo on our campus. Our members are ambitious leaders who work diligently to bring positive change to our community. Pi Kapps have served as SGA Presidents, Southern Style Members, Student Printz and yearbook editors and a myriad of other leadership positions.

-Academics: Pi Kapp prides itself in repeatedly setting the bar for other student organizations in academics. For the past 14 of 17 semesters, the men of Pi Kappa Phi have earned the highest GPA among fraternities, a testament to their dedication to academic excellence.

-Sportsmanship: Pi Kappa Phi has a very competitive intramural sports tradition. Placing 1st in fraternity league flag football, volleyball, and 3-on-3 basketball, Pi Kapps bring their pursuit of excellence to athletics as well.

-Service: Pi Kappa Phi is proud to be only Greek organization that owns and operates its own philanthropy, PUSH America. Every year, the Southern Miss chapter of Pi Kappa Phi raises thousands of dollars to help individuals with disabilities. A truly unique event is PUSH America’s Journey of Hope, which raises money and awareness for people with disabilities through cycling across the United States. Just last year, three of our members participated in the Journey of Hope, with another three training to undertake the adventure this summer. Men of CLASS take it upon themselves to apply these tenets to their growth and development as individuals. The bonds between brothers in Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity provide the catalysts for this development. We look forward to meeting you.

This month’s Brother of the Month is our Archon, Jared Wade. We appreciate everything he has done for the chapter and continues to do each and every day. Jared is a Construction Management major from Orlando Florida. We asked Jared two questions:

Why did you choose Pi Kapp?

Coming to Hattiesburg after having to go to high school in Bahrain, my brother and I didn’t know many people. Joining Pi Kappa Phi ended up being one of the best decisions I’ve made. It gave me a solid group of guys I can truly call my friends and opened the door to a lot of connections. I wouldn’t change that decision for anything.

Favorite Pi Kapp Memory?

Honestly, it’s hard to pick just one. Some of the best memories are just the everyday moments—being in the house, hanging out with the guys, and enjoying the little things. As a junior, I’ve made more memories than I can count with these boys.
