USM Speech and Debate Team The USM Speech and Debate Team hosts on-campus events and competes at intercollegiate tournaments in Individual Events and IPDA Debate.

The USM Speech and Debate Team is a student-driven organization dedicated to the advocacy of collegiate debate, the promotion of free speech and expression, and the study of the art of rhetoric at The University of Southern Mississippi. The organization has two components: a competitive speech & debate team and an on-campus society. Students from all disciplines and interests are invited to partic

ipate in formal competitive debates, organize on-campus events for the university and community, and sound their voices on important social issues.

Your Speech and Debate team raked in the hardware for the first half of the 2023 Hub City Swing hosted by the University of Southern Mississippi!

9 of 19 Tournament Championships, 4 breaks into the IPDA Elimination Rounds, and both the Tournament Championship and Tournament Runner-Up in the Individual IE Sweepstakes and Individual Combined Debate + IE Sweepstakes.

As a team, TCU brought home 2nd Place in the Individual Event Sweepstakes for the first half of the swing as well!

The team will finish the competition today in the second half of the swing hosted by William Carey University. Keep updated with the results from Day 3!
