A vital member of the CEHS Office of Student Success, Ryan serves as a student services coordinator advising online students in the School of Kinesiology & Nutrition’s sport coaching and fitness and nutrition degree programs.

As K-12 schools across Mississippi kick off a new academic year, we're celebrating an exciting milestone for the next generation of educators!

This fall, 31 graduate students and 12 undergraduate students are beginning their teacher residency placements in 14 partner school districts.

While working alongside high-quality mentor teachers, these teacher residents will be able to put what they're learning at Southern Miss into practice immediately. This immersive experience prepares them to confidently lead classrooms of their own after graduation in May 2027 and helps build a strong, sustainable teacher workforce for Mississippi.

Please help us thank Dr. Trent Gould for his leadership as dean for the past 9.5 years and wish him well as he joins Miami University as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs!

As Dr. Gould returns to his home state of Ohio, we congratulate him on this exciting opportunity. His leadership and service as CEHS dean, along with his dedication as a faculty member in the School of Kinesiology and Nutrition, have made a lasting impact on our students, faculty and staff. While there's nothing better than being a Golden Eagle, we wish him happiness, good health and success in this next chapter!

Dr. Gould joined Southern Miss in 2003 as an assistant professor and director of the Athletic Training Education Program. In 2013, he became associate dean of the College of Health before being named dean in 2017. When the College of Education and Human Sciences was established in 2018, Dr. Gould became its inaugural dean.

During the transition, we’re excited to welcome Dr. Jeff Hinton back to the college as interim dean this academic year. Dr. Hinton’s wealth of experience as a school director, associate dean and associate provost will provide steady leadership for CEHS.

The USM Center for Behavioral Health and Director Dr. Kristy McRaney were featured in the latest issue of the Southern Miss Alumni Association's magazine, The Talon.

A proud Southern Miss Psychology grad in Clinical Psychology, Kristy shared how USM provides transformational clinical training experiences that impact the lives of students and the clients they serve.

Alongside The Children's Center and DuBard School directors, Kristy discussed how the University is helping students become ready for life.
