ART 317: Time Travel PostersFor this project students expanded on their fictional time machines that they created in the previous assignment by designing and art directing illustrated “Time Travel Posters” for the time and destinations that their machines could visit. Beginning with hand-drawn sketches and self-built compositions, students explored everything from ancient civilizations and lost worlds to imagined futures and alternate timelines.

Using Adobe Firefly, students art directed illustrative styles and visual atmospheres for their original concepts, then brought the final pieces together in Adobe Illustrator through expressive typography, layout design, and additional graphic elements.

This project challenged students to combine storytelling, concept development, illustration, and typography while exploring how emerging AI tools can support, rather than replace, the creative process. Strong ideas, strong craft, and a lot of imagination in this one.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT!
Our Juniors completed their final project in ART 441 today! For this assignment, they developed a Museum Exhibition Campaign that extended from their previous Museum Branding project.

The goal was to create a cohesive and immersive campaign that consistently carried branding elements across every touchpoint. Students designed both digital and printed collateral, showcasing how a unified visual identity can translate across multiple platforms and formats.

Take a look at their hard work!

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT!
Our juniors in ART 344: Illustration recently completed a book cover project centered around a collection of selected poems from a poet of their choice. Working from a curated list, each student was challenged to visually interpret the tone, themes, and emotional depth of their chosen writer.

The defining constraint of the project was the exclusive use of wet media—pushing students to explore materials like ink, watercolor, and paint in expressive and intentional ways. Rather than relying on literal imagery, they were tasked with creating abstract illustrations to communicate emotions and themes. These are some of the results!

New Work! ART 317: The Time Machine!

Students designed fictional time machines by first creating detailed vector schematics in Adobe Illustrator using 3D tools. They then used Adobe Firefly to transform those blueprints into realistic visualizations, and finished the project in Photoshop by building trompe l’oeil scenes where the plans and images appear pinned, posted, or discovered in real spaces.

This project challenged students to combine technical precision, concept development, and storytelling while exploring how emerging tools can support the creative process. Strong ideas, strong craft, and a lot of imagination in this one.

Stay tuned for Part 2 - Time Travel Posters!
