What a fantastic day at the CATS Building for the 46th Annual Technology Conference. “Connecting Education to Opportunity!"

The conference was filled with great information, passionate professionals, meaningful conversations, and an incredible sense of camaraderie. The “Lightning Talks” were outstanding, and a huge THANK YOU goes to our speakers for sharing their knowledge, experiences, and enthusiasm with our teachers and students: Matt Carroll, Mike Kilgore, Michael Hair, Matt Brown, and Bryan Pixler.

A special shout-out to Eric Deneault and Zach Pixler, who represented FHSU Applied Technology and shared their experiences and expertise with high school teachers. Your passion for technology education is extraordinary.

We are also incredibly grateful to our business and affiliation presenters, Tracy Bourne and Michael Zimmerman, for an engaging presentation and demonstration of CNC machines and their operations. Thank you to Bryant Wiens and Doug Anderson, our keynote speakers, from Wiens & Company for sharing valuable insight during their presentation, “Opportunities Through Internship and Work Experiences.” These industry connections are exactly what on conference theme…“Connecting Education to Opportunity” is all about.

The tour of Stroup Hall, guided by Doug and Bryant, was another highlight. What a tremendous addition to the FHSU campus!

We’re excited to host our 46th Annual Technology Conference this week!

This year’s conference brings together high school teachers and college professors for a day filled with ideas, innovation, and practical information they can take directly back to their classrooms.

The day will feature five short “Lightning Talks” from educators sharing their experiences, projects, and approaches to technology education.

We’ll also hear from two outstanding industry partners, Depco Enterprises and Wiens & Company, who will share their expertise and provide valuable insight into today’s technology and construction industries.

Of course, we’ll keep everyone fueled with lunch as we learn, connect, and share ideas throughout the day.

We’ll wrap up this fun and information-packed day with a tour of the Stroup Hall addition, currently under construction by Wiens & Company. It’s going to be a great opportunity to connect education with industry and bring entrepreneurial ideas, real-world experiences, and new inspiration back to the classroom.

It’s a great day to be a Technology Tiger!

’Twas the night before the Tiger Nation Applied Tech Career Fair… and “Companies at a Glance” did NOT disappoint!

A huge thank you to The Law Company, KBS Constructors, Walters Morgan, and Ampere for kicking off the excitement and giving our students a great look into your companies, your goals, and the opportunities ahead.

We especially appreciated having three Tiger alumni come home to share their experiences and talk about the companies they now represent. It was a great reminder of the impact our graduates are making in the industry!

Students from both Fort Hays State University and Fort Hays Tech | North Central were in attendance, making it a great night of connections, conversations, and career preparation.

And now… the big day is here! With more than 70 companies planning to fill the CATS Building tomorrow, the energy is going to be incredible.

Tiger Nation is ready!

What a great way to kick off the Career Fair. Tomorrow is going to be a GREAT day to be a Tiger!

A big thank you to Hess Services for partnering with Mr. Howard’s Site Preparation and Foundation class for our first practice pour of the fall semester!

For many of our students, this was their first hands-on experience with concrete placement and finish work. It was a great opportunity to put classroom knowledge to practice.

A little hard work and some fun in the sun! Nice job Tigers!

It’s great to have students back in the CATS Building!

Tonight, a group of Applied Tech students gathered to hear from senior students and faculty about the many opportunities available through our student organizations...TEECA, EPT, and AGC.

Over pizza and great conversation, we shared stories about professional networking, student competitions, leadership opportunities, and, perhaps most importantly, making lifelong friends along the way.

This is what student leadership is all about...learning, connecting, growing, and creating experiences that last well beyond the classroom.

A great night to be a Tiger!

Today marked the start of the fall 2026 school year. We hosted 40 new students at the annual academic department orientation session this morning. This orientation session is a targeted welcome meeting where new students meet department faculty, learn about major-specific student groups, and tour the CATS Building...and faculty get to learn a little about our new students as well. Monday we should have a full house in the building. It was a great Day to be a Tiger!!!
