Celebrating one of our own 💛✨
Leslie is graduating from the University Honors Program while double majoring in Speech Pathology & Audiology and Spanish (yes… we’re impressed too). On top of that, she’s been involved in the Multilingualism Lab and served as Secretary for NSSLHA this year.

It’s been so special watching her grow, lead, and give back to this community. This is such a huge milestone, and it’s only the beginning 👏

We’re so proud of you, Leslie!! 🎓💫

The CSUEB Aphasia Tones Spring Concert was a powerful celebration of music, community, and resilience 🎶
Founded in 2009 by Ellen Bernstein-Ellis as part of the Aphasia Treatment Program, the Aphasia Tones continue to inspire through performances that amplify voices and raise awareness about aphasia.
This year’s concert featured crowd favorites like Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “My Girl,” along with a moving performance of “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman—a song that reflects the spirit of the Aphasia Tones:
“Look out 'cause here I come
And I'm marching on to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me”

Grad Slam Competition!

Jade Leyvas, a graduate student in Speech-Language Pathology, recently presented her research on how high-intensity aerobic exercise can support functional communication in individuals with aphasia 💬🏃‍♀️

This interdisciplinary, multi-site study—conducted in collaboration with UCSF, UC Berkeley, and the University of San Francisco—was funded by an NIH R01 grant, with Dr. Michelle Gravier (SLHS) serving as site PI and faculty mentor.

She’s advancing to the statewide competition on May 1st—good luck, Jade! 🎉
