Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) is a process that allows any student, particularly adult students, to demonstrate knowledge, competencies and skills in a particular field or fields and have that learning evaluated for college credit by faculty subject matter experts. In other words, what you already know from the learning you acquired at work, in the military, or through your own intellectual purs

uits (such as free online courses, or personal interests, such as art history or significant volunteerism) may be at the college level. By demonstrating your knowledge, you may be able to avoid taking courses on what you already know.
