During the 1970s, Carroll had the pleasure of having Rick Reese as a political science professor.
Following this time, Rick went on to be instrumental in establishing the Greater Yellowstone as an ecosystem and the first to write a book on such ("Greater Yellowstone: The National Park and Adjacent Wild Lands"), which brought national focus to the conservation of the area. Professor, conservationist, and climber, he was also a key in making Mt. Helena the resource that it is today as part of his passion for preserving natural places to be enjoyed.

This article in the Mountain Journal gives further insight into the colorful legacy that he has left with his advocacy.

As advocates for the Yellowstone region go, Rick Reese ranks right up there with the most impactful of all time. His legacy is written in the abundant wildlife and healthy landscapes we value today

Dr. Pratt retired today after serving for thirty-one years as a professor at Carroll College. He developed the International Relations program and taught and mentored thousands of students. Many of them went on to prestigious careers as diplomats, agents in the security services, and other related careers. We will all miss having our own resident secret agent in the department! Way to go Dr. Pratt and best wishes in retirement!
