Caroling at the Masonic Homes of California, Covina
December 2, 2025

G*t Jose Rizal Lodge No. 882 returned in strong numbers to share the spirit and joy of Christmas. During this year’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, the G*t Carolers were joined not only by the residents and their guests, but also by Most Worshipful Master Garrett S. Chan and several Grand Lodge officers.

What was once a simple yearly tradition has grown into a vibrant and uplifting celebration, elevated by the energy and harmony of the G*t Carolers. It was a truly heartwarming experience for the brethren to see how their songs filled the room with joy and brought smiles to the residents’ faces.

It was also wonderful to see a familiar face from their very own district—Worshipful Brother Harold Whitford—adding to the warmth and fellowship of the evening.

On August 23, 2025, G*t Jose Rizal Lodge No. 882 celebrated one year since signing the contract to adopt a stretch of roadway in Menifee, California. To mark this milestone, twenty dedicated volunteers—composed of lodge members and their families—came together for their quarterly community service cleanup. The event was filled with teamwork and camaraderie, as participants worked diligently to uphold the lodge’s commitment to keeping their adopted road safe and clean.

Over the course of the morning, the group successfully collected twelve large bags of trash, further enhancing the appearance and safety of the area. The difference has been remarkable since the lodge first began its cleanup efforts a year ago, with this stretch of road now noticeably cleaner and more welcoming for the community. Beyond improving the local environment, the project also highlights the power of consistent service, proving how small acts of stewardship can have a lasting impact.

For G*t Jose Rizal Lodge No. 882, this initiative is more than just a cleanup—it is an opportunity to live out Masonic values of service, responsibility, and unity. By working together, lodge members and their families not only strengthen their bonds but also demonstrate the importance of giving back to the community. With a full year of successful cleanups completed, the lodge looks forward to continuing this tradition of service for many years to come.

Fueling the Crowds: G*T Volunteers Shine at Local Air Show

While the roar of engines filled the air last weekend at the Southern California Air Show 2025 at March Air Reserve Base, the quiet dedication of the volunteers of G*t Jose Rizal Lodge No. 882, was also making a significant impact on the ground. Our members enthusiastically took charge of the food booths at the local air show, demonstrating remarkable teamwork and commitment.

Seeing our members come together and work shoulder-to-shoulder, serving up smiles and sustenance to air show attendees, was truly inspiring. This collaborative effort wasn't just about ensuring the smooth operation of the food booths; it was a powerful demonstration of how shared goals strengthen our bonds, foster harmony, and deepen the relationships.

Beyond the collective benefits, these volunteer experiences also play a vital role in building individual character. Stepping up to contribute, taking initiative, and working as part of a team in a busy environment cultivates valuable skills and a sense of personal accomplishment.

The energy and dedication our volunteers poured into this event will have a lasting impact, directly supporting the future operations of the lodge. The funds raised and the positive visibility gained will enable us to continue our mission and expand our reach.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of our volunteers, the future of G*t Jose Rizal Lodge No. 882 is looking even brighter!

G*t Jose Rizal Lodge No. 882: Continuing to Serve Our Community

The Masons of G*t Jose Rizal Lodge No. 882 continued their tradition of community service throughout the month of January. Building upon their past efforts, the Lodge successfully conducted a toy drive during the holiday season. In coordination with the Family Service Association of Riverside County, the collected toys were generously donated to the HOPE Collaborative in Moreno Valley, an organization dedicated to supporting child abuse victims and their families.

Demonstrating their commitment to honoring those who have served, members of the lodge returned to the Riverside National Cemetery in January to assist with the removal of holiday wreaths placed on the graves of our nation's veterans. This ongoing effort is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by those who served our country.

Furthermore, the lodge conducted its second road cleanup along their adopted section of the Antelope Road in Menifee. A dedicated team of 13 Masons and friends diligently collected an impressive six extra-large bags of litter, significantly enhancing the appearance and safety of our community.

G*t Jose Rizal Lodge No. 882 Honors Fallen Heroes at Riverside National Cemetery

On Saturday, December 14th, our lodge proudly participated in National Wreaths Across America Day, a nationwide event honoring our fallen heroes. More than two million volunteers gathered across the country, and we were thrilled to have four of our esteemed lodge members join the effort at Riverside National Cemetery.

Retired Master Gunnery Sargeant Angelo Alano, representing the United States Marines, and Retired Chief Petty Officer Alvin Nillasca, proudly donned their uniforms for this solemn occasion. Their presence added a powerful visual reminder of the sacrifices made by our service members.

Brother Martin Carongcong, retired Navy Chief, served as the dignified Master of Ceremonies. His eloquence and heartfelt words created a truly moving atmosphere, filled with honor, pride, and profound respect for the fallen. The ceremony was deeply moving, with many attendees moved to tears by the solemn tributes.

Worshipful Master Amor Ledina, a retired Navy Officer, attended the ceremony to show his support for our lodge members. Worshipful Amor was the driving force behind our lodge's support for the event this year as well as in the two previous years.

We look forward to continuing this tradition of honoring our fallen heroes next year. However, before then, there is an important task that requires maximum assistance. On January 25th, all the wreaths laid upon the graves will be collected for proper disposal. Members of G*t Jose Rizal Lodge No. 882 will be there and if you are interested in volunteering your time to help with this essential effort, please reach out to us and let us know.

G*t Jose Rizal Lodge No. 882 Spreads Holiday Cheer Through Caroling

On December 3rd, the members of G*t Jose Rizal Lodge No. 882, along with their families, embarked on a heartwarming tradition: spreading Christmas cheer through caroling. For three consecutive years, the Lodge has brought the magic of the season to our community, particularly to those who may need it most – our local seniors residing in assisted living and senior communities.

This year, our first caroling event took place at the esteemed Masonic Home in Covina, coinciding with their Christmas tree lighting ceremony. The festive atmosphere further enhanced the joy of our performance. As we sang familiar Christmas carols, the residents' faces lit up with smiles. Their eyes sparkled, and many even joined in, their voices adding to the heartwarming melody.

These heartwarming reactions are a consistent reminder of the profound impact our caroling efforts have on the community. Witnessing the delight and appreciation in the eyes of our senior residents is truly rewarding. It reinforces the spirit of giving and reminds us of the importance of connecting with those around us, especially during the holiday season.

We are incredibly grateful to all the members and their families who generously volunteered their time and talent to make this event possible. Their dedication and enthusiasm are the heart and soul of this cherished tradition.

As we look forward to the upcoming caroling events, we are filled with anticipation for the continued joy and connection they will bring to our community.
