🇬🇭 Help FHU Nursing Make a Lasting Impact in Ghana! ❤️

In January 2027, FHU Nursing will return to Village of Hope (VOH) in Ghana with a specific mission: provide CPR and First Aid training to nearly 50 educators and house parents who care for children across the VOH campus.

Last January, we certified 33 HCH staff members in American Heart Association Basic Life Support. This year, we want to take the next step—not just provide training, but leave the equipment in Ghana so the training can continue long after we return home.

💲 $1,000 equips a complete CPR training station with:
• 2 adult manikins
• 2 infant manikins
• 2 AED trainers

Our goal is to help create sustainable access to lifesaving CPR, AED, and First Aid education for Village of Hope, as well as the Nursing program at Heritage Christian University in Accra—equipping them to eventually train others.

A score...two decades...or 20 years....however you choose to describe it, we are very proud to highlight that it was nearly 20 years ago to the day that FHU admitted its first cohort of Nursing students!! We're thankful for those that did the hard work of getting the approvals for the program, creating the curriculum, and supporting the needs of this new and exciting program. We're thankful for those families and students that put their trust in us then...and now...to provide a quality program that would develop them personally and professionally as they journey towards their career of professional Registered Nurse.

We pray your support for our wonderful program and the development of future professional Registered Nurses continues and grows. Now, onward to the next 20!!!

Very excited and thankful for our junior cohort!! They are starting their journey with some training in the electronic medical record, EPIC, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. The need still exists. Unfortunately, the circumstances of a generous heart have changed, and they will not be able to care for the child. Additionally, the need is even more pressing. The grandmother is now in hospice care. Please prayerfully consider this need.

As I consider what I'm about to share and ask of you, I'm mindful of various scriptures. Psalms 127:3-5, "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children[a] of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!." Galatians 6:2, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." Finally, Matthew 25:40, "And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’"

The share: There is a 6-year old child, with autism, that has been living with his grandmother for the past year. This arrangement is because the child witnessed the murder of their mother, as well as another family member (murder-suicide), then the child was alone in the house for 4 days until this tragedy was found. The child's grandmother is now in hospice care. If a loving and committed home is not found for this child, they will likely end up as a ward of the state, which is not the preferred option. This child is in desperate need of some loving people to accept them, welcome them, provide for them, and make a home for them.

The ask: If you have interest in learning further about how you might be able to meet the needs of this child, please contact Chris White at ([email protected]). If you are not able, but know of someone who might be, please share this and my contact information with them. Finally, if you know of any agencies/services or other loving resources that could guide us toward getting this child's needs met, please share that with me. As indicated above, due to the health of the child's grandmother, there is urgency in the meeting of this need.

Though it is unofficial, I am proud to report that every one of our BSN graduates in the class of 2026 have passed their NCLEX exam on the first-attempt!! This is truly a testament to their academic preparation, their diligence, their commitment to the profession, and the character they have. We are very proud of each and every one of you and look forward to seeing the things you do for God's glory in our wonderful profession!! Well done, all of you!!
