On Saturday, May 9th, under the canopy of heaven, Hialeah Opa-Locka Lodge No. 391 conferred the Sublime Degree of Master Mason upon Brothers Ryan Morgan of Royal Palm Lodge No. 100 and Enrique Bastista. This occasion marked the first time in well over a decade that a degree was conferred outdoors, making it a truly memorable event for all in attendance.
Worshipful Brother Lazaro Moreira presided in the East for the first section, exemplifying a calm, stoic demeanor and a commanding presence. Worshipful Brother Ruben Ovalle presided over the second section, distinguished by his excellence in ritual work and masterful portrayal of his role.
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries from the 26th, 27th, and 29th Masonic Districts, including Right Worshipful District Deputy Grand Master Kelvin Justice, along with numerous Brothers who gathered in support of the newly raised Master Masons.
This distinguished event was made possible through special dispensation granted by Most Worshipful Tali Atala, Grand Master of Masons of Florida.

This week we welcomed and received our dear Brother Tali Atala, who aside from being a Hialeah Mason, is also our Most Worshipful Grand Master. M∴W∴ Atala shared with us the history of our beloved Lodge, as well as some memories of our departed Brother R∴W∴ Harry Futch. Traveling with our Grand Master were R∴W∴ Jorge Filgueira, Worshipful Grand Marshal (and Past Master of Hialeah) and R∴W∴ Manny Olmedo, Junior Grand Deacon. Prior to the meeting, W∴ Daniel Molina 32° KCCH provided Masonic Education with his presentation titled Measuring Light: The symbolic calendars of the Craft. It was a wonderful evening of fellowship and education. It is always a great time being in the Lodge and meeting On The Level with the leaders of our great Fraternity.

Last week, Hialeah-Opa Locka Lodge No. 391 welcomed a new Brother to the fold. Welcome to Hialeah, Brother Jacob!

The Entered Apprentice Degree was conferred by our State Ritual Competition Team, who delivered an outstanding performance of the Work.

This Black History Month, we honor the giants whose faith, courage, and brotherhood shaped both our nation and our Craft.

From Prince Hall, who sought light when doors were closed to him, to trailblazers like Thurgood Marshall, Medgar Evers, and educators like Booker T. Washington. These Brothers carried their working tools beyond the Lodge and into the world.

They stood for justice when it was costly.
They built hope where there was hardship.
They proved that true strength is measured not in power, but in character.

Their legacy is not just history, it is a charge to ALL Brother Masons.

May we continue to build with courage.
To serve with humility.
To walk uprightly as Masons.

Today we honor the brave men and women who have stood in defense of our nation and its freedoms. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment reflect the principles of duty, integrity, and brotherly love that we, as Masons, hold dear. May we never forget those who served and those who continue to serve, guarding the light of liberty and justice for all.

Brother Mario Allende recently enlightened us with his presentation titled “One Pillar at a Time.” His piece explores the deeper symbolism behind the Pillars of our Profession, the story of Ruth and Boaz, and the meaning of building our moral foundation one pillar at a time. Through lessons of compassion, strength, and patience we are reminded that every Brother’s journey is a structure in progress built not in haste, but with purpose and integrity. This piece, as part of the Hialeah Education Series is available to be presented in English at any Lodge, and is open to all Masons. Reach out if you’d like this presented at your Lodge!
