I’m excited to share another episode of President in the Program, where I spend time with students across the schools and the many programs we offer.

This time, I visited our cosmetology program for a hands-on lesson. I quickly learned that highlighting hair takes a lot more skill, patience, and precision than it looks like. In fact, I may have found the hardest skill I’ve learned so far in this series.

It was a fun experience and a great reminder of the skill and professionalism our students bring to the salon every day. I’m looking forward to seeing what other programs have in store for me next.

Dr. Hinshaw stopped by Nursing to learn about the B.E. F.A.S.T. method, a simple way to recognize stroke symptoms quickly.

May is American Stroke Month, a national effort led by the American Stroke Association, a division of the American Heart Association, to raise awareness that stroke is largely preventable, treatable, and beatable.

Each year, about 800,000 people in the U.S. have a stroke. However, up to 80% may be preventable through healthy lifestyle choices and by knowing your risk factors.

Take a moment to learn B.E. F.A.S.T. It could help save a life.

To learn more, visit the American Stroke Association at stroke.org.
