Excited to share an USA Triathlon article about Coach Doughtie’s NKU COY honor and the impact triathlon is having on NKU’s campus and part of the collegiate triathlon movement.

I’m honored but more importantly this award goes to all my student athletes who show up, work hard and part of our program. I can’t do it without all their hard work in the classroom and in the sport, and I hope they all know I’d do anything to support them. -Coach

Excited to welcome Hannah Rachford to NKU TRI! Hannah comes to NKU as a transfer from Cleveland State where she was an NCAA diver. Hannah also has experience in endurance running and is part of the NKU ROTC program! Welcome to the Norse, Hannah!!

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱-𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗦

Year 2 of our program is in the books! Our student athletes have worked hard in the classroom, community and in triathlon to represent the Norse! These are only 3 of the awards, but everyone has played a key role in our continued development as a program!

Coach Doughtie and Coach Torres want to thank everyone for all they gave this year to NKU TRI!!

𝑺𝑬𝑵𝑰𝑶𝑹 𝑹𝑬𝑪𝑶𝑮𝑵𝑰𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵!!!

So proud to recognize the senior class for our triathlon program!

Alisha Detmer has set 6 school records within the super sprint or sprint distance during her 2 years with the Norse. Along with that she was a 2x Scholar All American for the Norse. She is graduating with an outstanding academic record with countless research projects working within the science department here at NKU, as she looks to go to medical school!

Joey Klosterman came to the program for his senior year and helped the team finish 2nd overall for the 2025 season with a top 4 finish among the Norse at MECTC Championship. Joey has been one of the best supportive teammates with his positive and fun approach during practices. Joey is going to be working as a nurse in the Cincinnati area!

Fred Smal is our 1st senior on the men’s team that was here for both years of our program. Fred helped our Norse finish T40 at this year’s National Championship while finishing with a huge PR! Fred will be graduating and working locally for Fastenal!

These 3 individuals have made a huge mark on our program and helped lay the foundation for where we want this program to go! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the program!
