How many of us pass by this sculpture nearly every day on our way in to Jeffco?

Flashback Friday! One of the first things you might notice upon entering Jefferson College campus is the small pond and its distinctive sculpture.

This is the work of former Jefferson College instructor Darrol Unruh (RIP 1937-2011) and depicts a white ibis, although the finish is stainless steel/silver.

Unruh and his students in the metal fabrication and welding classes created the piece over a 10 week period back in 1996.

Note the large bass drum in the foreground, I believe the music department still has this (red and white striped)?
