CACC Folk Dance Troupe

CACC Folk Dance Troupe The CACC Folk Dance Troupe was formed at the Chinese American Community Center (CACC) in Hockessin, DE in 1992. Mrs. Our dance troupe’s Director is Cathy Peng.

The teachers and choreographers are Chin-Sui Lee Choi 李清秀 and her daughter Stella. Choi or Teacher Lee is the director of the Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe in Fairfax, VA established in 1988. The dancers range from age 7 to senior high school from the tri-state area (DE, MD and PA). Practice is held weekly on Sunday afternoons at the CACC. Some of the girls have been with the club for many years an

d some are new this year. The dance troupe has performed on various occasions at many special events including NYC's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, London New Year's Parade, the Smithsonian Institute in D.C., the Grand Opera House, the Playhouse Theatre, National Theatre (Washington D.C.) and the annual Chinese New Year's Celebrations and Chinese Festivals at CACC. We have also performed at the annual Delaware Dance Festival, the Winterthur Museum, and Longwood Gardens and most recently at the International Children’s Festival at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA and at First Night in Wilmington on New Year’s Eve.

Happy Easter!
CACC FDT has been busy at our Spring Workshop, with two days of intensive training—starting from the basics and building up to prepare our dancers for upcoming performances at the Memorial Weekend Parade and the Chinese Festival.

The dancers have been working closely with our teacher, Mrs. Stella, who traveled from Virginia to join us. In between all the hard work, the kids have also been enjoying some well-deserved treats—Starbucks, Woodside Farm ice cream, and Dunkin’ Munchkins have definitely kept the energy up!
