Janet is a Toledo native, graduating from Rogers High School. She then continued her education at Bowling Green State University, where she earned a degree in Music Education. She returned to the schools that raised her and taught music in Toledo Public Schools for 36 years.

Janet previously held office as Sergeant at Arms in the NWO Alumnae chapter. Famously, she was our White Elephant auctioneer at our Christmas meeting - getting the most funds as possible for our chapter and philanthropies! She was passionate about music, serving her community and

She will be missed dearly. Love & Roses, Janet. 🤍🌹❤️

Sending so much love & roses to the brothers of the Iota Omicron chapter of Phi Mu Alpha, Zach’s wife and baby girl Millie, family and friends on the loss of an amazing musician and person. We are thinking of all of you during this time ❤️🌹

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post, but yesterday we lost one of our own Zach Karpuszka. Zach was the band director at Pike-Delta-York High School. Zach was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, teacher and mentor. He will be missed by all of his students. He impacted their lives in ways we may never truly know. In any room that Zach walked into he brought with him levity and joy. He brought forth all the ideals in what it means to be a music educator. I personally met Zach when we both attended BGSU and then later we were colleagues as band directors together in Fulton County. It was clear from the first time I met Zach his level of dedication to teaching music and what a large role it played in his life. Zach was also an active member of the music ministry at St. John XXIII. A talented musician, he enjoyed playing the saxophone and participated in several barbershop quartets. He was known for his love of Disney, the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing golf, and above all his family. We mourn his passing along with the Delta community and we ask you please keep his family, students, and our community in your prayers.

‘Sigma Alpha Iota: A History’ notes, “On 1 December 1904, nine members of Alpha Chapter — the five Founders who were still at the University School of Music, the two
patronesses, and the President and Treasurer of the chapter — appeared before [an Ann Arbor attorney] and signed the document which he then notarized…When the Articles of Association were recorded with the Secretary of the State of Michigan on 15 December 1904, Sigma Alpha Iota was duly incorporated as a nonprofit association.” The pages above are of the Articles of Association as reprinted in the March 1928 PAN PIPES.

Begun in 1992 by the United Nations, this annual observance reminds us that disabilities vary in severity and visibility. According to this year’s UN resolution, “the inclusion of persons with disabilities as both agents and beneficiaries of social development is indispensable. Disability inclusion in all aspects of social, economic, cultural and political life is therefore an imperative.” SAI provides Disability Services, including an annual SAI Philanthropies, Inc. scholarship, alternate publication formats, and its longstanding Bold Notes Project.
