Sigma Alpha Iota is an International Music Fraternity which was founded in 1903, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This organization promotes interaction among those who share a commitment to music. The SAI Alumnae Association allows alumnae to remain active and supportive of the ideals of SAI. The Northwest Ohio Alumnae Chapter of SAI was chartered in 1975 and is based in Toledo, OH. Our first meeting back of 2026-2027, honoring the Distinguished Members of Northwest Ohio Alum & even had the honor for 2 of them to be in attendance: Randolph Currie & Richard Alleshouse. We received updates from many not in attendance tonight.

During Musicale, Alice played a Ukrainian composer, Skyork’s “Elegy” in remembrance of our sister Janet who we lost in May, as well as works by Tchaikovsky & Villa-Lobos. Pam also played several short compositions by Randy Currie.

Also thank you for the Mu Delta Chapter for joining us!

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Janet Foltz. The Northwest Ohio Alumnae chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota is truly not going to be the same without her.

Janet is a Toledo native, graduating from Rogers High School. She then continued her education at Bowling Green State University, where she earned a degree in Music Education. She returned to the schools that raised her and taught music in Toledo Public Schools for 36 years.

Janet previously held office as Sergeant at Arms in the NWO Alumnae chapter. Famously, she was our White Elephant auctioneer at our Christmas meeting - getting the most funds as possible for our chapter and philanthropies! She was passionate about music, serving her community and

Service Information: Visitation from 10am - 12pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 12pm. She will laid to rest at Toledo Memorial Park.
