🎉 Congratulations to Gloria Kozak, a member of the Elinski Group, for being awarded a 2026 Goldwater Scholarship. This national award recognizes excellence in Gloria's current work and her promising future in research. 👩‍🔬

🏆 The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship is considered the most prestigious undergraduate award of its type in the natural sciences, engineering, and mathematics in the United States, designed to identify the next generation of research leaders. Out of 1,485 nominated students, the Goldwater Board has awarded 454 scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Cancer Engineering | Bioengineering is revolutionizing cancer research. This area of science integrates engineering and physical sciences with oncology to change how we understand and treat cancer.

Rodger Kobes (Hope, ’63) and Michael Keller established an endowed fund in 2023 to bring prominent scientists to Hope College and the greater Holland community to discuss the translation of cutting-edge science to human health. The 2025-26 speaker will be Dr. Greg Sawyer from the Moffitt Cancer Center, who is a tribologist and bioengineer who visualizes the interaction between cancer cells and the tumor microenvironment using novel bioengineering techniques developed in his lab.
