Summer research is buzzing on campus! 🐝

Suzanne DeVries-Zimmerman, associate professor of geological and environmental science, and research students Carter Dickey and Kate Groenheide are helping care for our campus bees.

These pollinators not only help our campus plants thrive, but they also provide honey that is used in Hope College Dining Services dishes and sold in the Hope College Bookstore.

Recently retired Director of Operations Kara Slater has been recognized by Crain’s Grand Rapids Business as one of West Michigan’s "Notable Leaders in Architecture, Engineering and Construction."

During her 11-year tenure, Kara managed over two million square feet of campus space and directed the major construction projects that shaped our campus.

Dr. Lauren Slone and her 10 undergraduate research assistants have been honored with Hope’s 2026 Social Sciences Early Career Investigators Award.

Their project, which examines how self-made study schedules impact learning and retention, was selected from nearly 200 presentations at this year's Celebration of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity (CURCA.) This award recognizes outstanding student-faculty collaboration and provides funding for the team to present their findings at an upcoming professional conference.
