Monday November 3rd, 6PM at Aloha Tower Marketplace - HPU Global Cinema Symposium, State of the Art: Hawai'i and Hawaiian Cinema. Hawai'i socio-political leaders and key industry academics weigh in and share insights. How are we doing 25 years into the 21st century with cinematic and media literacy and representation? What is the state of the art and where should/could it head in the future? Is every Andy any project wonderful, or can we do better? What about the state's role in film and television and multimedia production and promotion? Should there be funding incentives for local and Hawaiian productions like other nations? if so, from where, specifically. Can OHA help? What's the state of our P-24 Cinematic and Media educational system. Did UH fulfill its early 2000's promise of innovation and critical media engagement? What about the Center for Hawaiian Studies, how have they addressed or not, critical media analysis? These questions and much more will be considered and discussed this coming Monday at Aloha Tower.

Monday November 4, 6:00 P.M. at Hawaii Theatre Center Jean-Luc Godard's "CONTEMPT" (Le Mépris), 1964. The Hawai'i Pacific University Cinémathèque Film Festival in collaboration with the Hawaii Theatre Center and the Albertine Foundation Villa Albertine present Bridgette Bardot, Michel Piccoli, Jack Palace and Fritz Lang in the iconic film about relational politics. check out the colors of Italy in this Rialto Pictures trailer: https://vimeo.com/829877975

there will also be a Dress like Bardot/Belmondo competition open to everyone. think French new wave: ). The screening event will be filmed and recorded for documentary purposes, so be aware of camera operators.
