This field course is part of the educational exchange program between the Uehiro Center for the Advancement of Oceanography (UC•AO) at UH Mānoa and the Uehiro Laboratory for Oceanography (ULO) at Hokkaido University. The course offers a unique opportunity to experience winter field research in northern Japan, where students will explore sea ice biogeochemistry through hands-on observations, sampling, and laboratory activities. ❄️⛄

Three UH Mānoa students will be selected to participate alongside approximately 15–20 students from Hokkaido University. 🐧
