General information

First incorporated in Hawai‘i on October 10, 2003, ACE received SBA/SDB designation as a Native Hawaiian owned for-profit entity in August 2008. As a participant in the SBA’s 8(a) SDB Program, Alaka‘i Consulting & Engineering is able to obtain sole-source contracts, and engage in joint ventures and teams to bid on contracts. Our initial core business efforts have focused on research and development of spectrography and laser spectroscopy techniques for standoff detection of trace amounts of explosives. In addition to our direct involvement in cutting edge research, we also have collaborative arrangements with several universities to help accelerate technology transfer. We also provide consulting and management activities with university research teams interested in this technology and its potential use with the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security.
