DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
Provide visionary, inclusive leadership that advances the School’s academic,
research, and community service missions in accordance with a commitment
to ʻike Hawaiʻi (e.g., language, culture, and knowledge systems), while
aligning with UH Mānoa and UH System priorities.
Ensure the School’s deep commitment to Kanaka Maoli people and the State
of Hawai‘i by leading with cultural humility, promoting ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i, and
addressing emerging issues for Indigenous People (i.e., language
revitalization, climate resilience, food security, and social justice).
Build sustainable partnerships across the UH System, the Hawaiian language
community, state and local agencies, nonprofits, and international Indigenous
networks, while actively recruiting and fostering the success of Kanaka Maoli
students, faculty, and staff.
Oversee all administrative functions, including transparent decision-making,
shared responsibility protocols, fiscal planning, human resources, facilities
management, and securing financial resources through philanthropy and
grants.
