North Star News is the student-run press organization of Lone Star College - North Harris Campus. The news team also serves the Victory Center, Greenspoint, and CHI campuses. Publishing between six and eight times per year, North Star News provides local and global news, interesting features, entertainment updates, campus sports coverage, and controversial topics that stimulate critical thought an

d discussion. The North Star newsroom is on the LSC-North Harris campus in SC-210 - inside the gaming room. Anyone with an interest in journalism, mass communications, marketing, photography, writing, videography, or any other related field is welcome to attend our weekly meetings and join the staff. We meet every Monday and Tuesday during the Spring and Fall semesters at 1pm.

If your school district closed as a result of the weather today check their district websites. Commissioner of Education Michael Williams did release a statement saying that districts that closed as a result of the flooding will be excused. This statement is ambiguous for residents outside of Houston city limits, so please check your district websites to information.

Texas Education Agency Commissioner Michael Williams will excuse campuses affected by Houston-area flooding by granting them waivers.

Texas Education Agency (TEA) Commissioner of Education Michael Williams announced May 26 that school districts forced to close schools due to inclement weather would be granted a waiver exempting the use of an inclement weather makeup day.
