Candidate for District 1 HISD Board of Trustees • Petroleum Engineer • • Bellaire High School • The University of Texas at Austin • Master in Petroleum Engineer at The University of Houston

11/03/2021

Ever since August 12, when I announced my candidacy for HISD District 1, I’ve had the opportunity to meet incredible residents with the common goal of wanting to improve public education in Houston. I want to thank all the people that donated and offered support. In particular, I want to thank the numerous volunteers that gave their time to the campaign. In the next few days, I will be sharing some reflections to hopefully encourage young Houstonians to run for office with the goal to improve the community where we live, work, and play.

Stay tuned!

EARLY VOTE WRAP UP: Per Harris County public records, between Oct 18 and Oct 29, there were 4,278 ballots cast for the Houston ISD District 1 race, which includes the residents mostly living in the Northisde, Oak Forest, Heights, and Garden Oaks neighborhoods. Of these, there were 2,800 ballots cast in person, which includes 148 Drive Through votes and 35 ballots cast during extended hours on Thu, Oct 28. The remaining 1,478 votes were cast by mail.

The most powerful tool for residents and parents to voice their opinion on the quality of Houston Public Education is to VOTE.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 2 from 7 AM to 7 PM. This is the last chance to cast your vote. Make it count!

BREAKING NEWS: I want to address an unauthorized text and mailer that was sent out using my name and picture. Things are getting really dirty in the HISD District 1 race. Not only are special interests flooding our local race, but now DARK MONEY is pouring in. It was reported that some residents have received a text and mailer from a PAC that was created without ever seeking consent from my campaign.

Per the Texas Ethics Commission, the treasurer for this PAC is Cabell Hobbs. To see how deep this goes, just google search his name, which will show that he is actively participating in elections across the country. The timing of this piece was well programed to stir attention away from the pillars of what we stand for and halt the momentum we have cultivated in these few months across the community.

WE WILL NOT STAND FOR DIVISIVENESS AND HATE!

My campaign stands for going back to the basics:
- Guarantee ALL district employees are earning a competitive salary
- Ensuring ALL students are properly reading and learning math
- Transparency in the budgeting process, which includes regular audits
- Harmony and respect among the board and members of the community while repudiating any and all types of hate
- Engagement of parents, students and teachers with the only goal of improving students outcome
- Look beyond divisive issues that set us apart while bridging the community
- Strong neighborhood schools with up-to-date infrastructure

Now more than ever, we need to make sure that you go vote and make sure you tell your friend, family! Stop special interest and dark money! HISD belongs to us, the residents of Houston.

I am not a politician, nor do I aspire to be one. I am a regular guy wanting to improve public education. When someone takes the time and money to do this, it means that we are making change. My fight doesn’t stop here - in opposite, this strengthens my desire to continue to fight for QUALITY PUBLIC EDUCATION with the only goal that every child in Houston has access to quality public education.

The latest campaign financial report is out! As expected, both of my opponents received considerable special interest contributions (one received $75,409 while the other received $48,100). Special interests groups water down YOUR vote in this local election. The only way for us to regain a handle on OUR district is by telling your neighbors, friends, and family to ALL GO VOTE and make your voice heard.

10/27/2021

Today I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Lindale Park Civic Club Quarterly Meeting. Several questions were asked to the three candidates by concerned residents- one of which was about SPECIAL INTEREST MONEY funding candidates’ campaigns. I am the ONLY candidate in this race not accepting special interest money. The previous financial campaign report showed that one candidate received $28k from an out-of-state special interest group. You may ask why? Let’s wait until the next report comes out this week to see which other special interest groups are funding my opponents in this LOCAL HISD race. Stay Tuned!

In the first 5 days of early voting, 650 in person votes were cast and 1,100 mail in ballots have been returned from HISD District 1 residents.*

As the only candidate in this race to have UNPAID volunteers, I feel blessed to have made a connection with the community. Since I have NOT accepted special interest money, our campaign did not send out glossy, fancy mailers. Instead we rely on making personal connections with residents of District 1. The grassroots campaign that I wished to create has truly taken over the entirety of Northside, Heights, Oak Forest, and Garden Oaks!

Volunteers are rocking the precincts! Thank you to everyone that has helped so far! What can you do to help now? We need YOU to tell your friends, family, and neighbors to go VOTE! This is our unique chance to change the trajectory of HISD.
