The Office of the Provost houses the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. The Provost is the Chief Academic Officer and is responsible for student access and success. The Provost initiates and oversees a broad range of programs which benefit students throughout the University of Houston and the community, including undergraduate, graduate, continuing and distance education progr

Dig this! Major discoveries made my University of Houston Provost and archaeologist Diane Z. Chase alongside husband Arlen Chase.

They met in college, got married, then spent 40 years digging through the jungle together. Now, this UH archaeologist couple has discovered the tomb of Maya royalty.

“He’s my best friend as well as my husband,” Diane Chase said. “He’s my co-principal investigator; he’s all of those things. We’re just a really good team.”

The tomb is the first ever confirmed to belong to a ruler of Caracol — a discovery that rewrites what historians thought they knew about Maya civilization.

Faculty excellence has come full circle. The President's Circle Awards recognize professors in several categories that demonstrate their commitment to scholarly success.

More than 200 University of Houston faculty members were recently recognized for their accomplishments as scholars, researchers and academic innovators. The President’s Circle Awards were presented on March 31 spotlighting professors for their work in elevating UH’s national profile.

More recognition for the tremendous talents at UH! Our very own University of Houston Andy and Barbara Gessner College of Nursing Dean Kathryn Tart was elected as a Distinguished Fellow/Professional Member in the National Academies of Practice.

UH Closed Wednesday, Jan. 22

The University of Houston, including UH at Katy and UH at Sugar Land, will remain closed on Wednesday, Jan. 22 due to continued hazardous winter weather conditions. Public safety officials continue to urge everyone to stay home and off the roads. Please stay safe and remember to protect the “Four P’s”: people, pets, pipes and plants.
