Initially created as the Center for Arts Leadership, the Center for Art and Social Engagement (CASE) focuses on the relational aspects of art and its impact on audiences and communities. Key to the new College of the Arts at UH is understanding our relationship to our local and national community. CASE furthers that goal through engaged research, innovative partnerships, and creating opportunities for dialogue.

Congratulations to PRH Founder Jesse Lott on this amazing distinction!

We are beyond pleased to announce that one of Project Row Houses’ founders, Jesse Lott, has just been appointed as 2021-2022 Texas State Three-Dimensional Artist by the Texas State Legislature.

“Appointees were selected by a legislative-appointed committee for the exceptional quality of their work and for their outstanding commitment to the arts in Texas.”

“Jesse Lott is an African-American sculptor of great distinction, and a long-time resident of Houston’s 5th Ward. Jesse Lott works in paper, metal, and wood as well as with armatures and wire, building a capacity for emotional power and creating an awareness for the Black Arts Movement. His technique is derived from collecting and recycling discarded materials, as a type of urban archeology fused with scientific methodology… In 2016, Art League Houston named Lott the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement in the Visual Arts Award.”
