Dust Devil Microgravity is a team from Tempe, Arizona that is proposing to participate in a high interest microgravity experiment through Microgravity University's Reduced Gravity Program 2012. The team is composed of five student flyers and two faculty advisers from the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University. The Dust Devils will be part-taking in various outreach event

s throughout the state to promote STEM interest for the Reduced Gravity Fight Program. For the purpose of promoting STEM education and providing accessibility, our website includes a resource page for educators with "How To's" on performing simple gravity simulations, models, and experiments in their classrooms. Please contact us if you are interested in having the Dust Devils come visit your class. The team selection will be announced on December 7th 2011 after which there will be about four to six months to raise and collect funds, build the experiment test structure, and prepare the experiment for flight week

Talk about some amazing students, this is their SECOND incredible project in as many years. The first, launching the first-ever 3D printed rocket engine by a student group, was massively successful.

On November 2015, an interdisciplinary student group from the Arizona State University lead by SDSL submitted a proposal to NASA to design and construct a CubeSat as part of their Undergraduate Student Instrument Project. Our proposed mission, Phoenix, is to measure and quantify the heat island effect on various cities around the world utilizing a CubeSat equipped with an infra-red camera.

We are excited to announce Phoenix has been selected by NASA and is scheduled for launch early 2018. We want to take this opportunity to thank all of you whose hard work and dedication have made this possible. Stay posted for more information.

Hello Dust Devils!

The team is back safe and sound in Tempe, AZ and could not have had a more successful trip to Houston! Thank you to everyone that has followed us and supported us throughout this journey, and we look forward to sharing even more with you in the coming months!

Data collection was very successful, and now begins the challenging task of data analysis and developing a final report. We will keep you updated, and soon will have videos and more pictures of the flight to show you, so stay tuned!

For this week's team feature, we'd like to introduce you to our resident Freshman and Team Outreach Coordinator, RJ Amzler:

Robert is currently a freshman in the Earth and Space Exploration program concentrating in Astrobiology and Biogeosciences. Currently he is involved with the Aerospace Scholarships to Challenge and Educate New Discoverers (ASCEND) high altitude balloon research, as well as the Arizona State University chapter of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) where he serves as treasurer. His research interests involve extremophiles and studying life in terrestrial analogues to better understand how life could exist outside of Earth.
