UH Comparative Cultural Studies The official page for the Department of Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Houston!

CCS is an interdisciplinary department offering degree programs in Anthropology, Liberal Studies, and Religious Studies. The Department of Comparative Cultural Studies highlights the rich comparative traditions of disciplines and programs. The Department offers degree programs in Anthropology (BA, BS, MA) Liberal Studies (BA), and Religious Studies (BA). Collaboration among these programs enhances

the strengths of each and encourages experiential learning and cross-cultural understanding. Students in these programs explore the historical construction of cultures and the ways in which cultural constructs affect the political, social, and aesthetic relationships that shape human communities. By creating a shared space for scholarly debate and student learning, the Department of Comparative Cultural Studies enhances the interdisciplinary opportunities inherent in its constituent disciplines.

We are happy to feature the University of Houston – Downtown Center for Critical Race Studies in partnership with The Houston Young Lawyers Association (HYLA) and Kindred Spirits Design Co. as an Education House resource for Round 53: The Curious Case of Critical Race… Theory?

In this installation, visitors are met with thought-provoking illustrations, questions, and answers with the aim of quelling curiosity about CRT’s past, present, and purpose. In visiting the Education house, guests walk away with a deeper understanding of CRT, and therefore, are better equipped to engage with the remaining featured art houses and beyond.

Currently on view for Round 53: The Curious Case of Critical Race...Theory?, curated by Danielle Burns-Wilson. Open Wednesday – Sunday from 12 – 5 pm until June 5th, 2022.
