The Social Work Student Organization (SWSO)
at the University of Houston-Clear Lake

This group was created to connect UHCL Social Work Student Organization members. Meetings held on campus every two weeks starting again in the Fall semester (unless otherwise noted), 12-1pm-Room B1435. We welcome you to please come and join us in meetings, activities and events. SWSO participates in donations to shelters, fundraising activities, bake sales, raffles etc., ABASO carnival for childre

n with developmental disabilities, UHCL campus events, VDay, a global campaign, Unity Club events, PAVE events, Disability Leadership Network Houston, Community Outreach Day, and we are always welcoming new ideas! We also welcome volunteers to lead and coordinate an event which is a great way to utilize social work skills.

During our elections, there were no write-in nominations for the open positions listed above. We will begin the fall semester with a second round of elections to complete the full Leadership Team. Please be thinking over the summer, if you might have an interest in serving in a leadership role within the organization! It's a ton of fun and a great opportunity to build leadership skills (plus it looks great on a grad school application or resume)!

We would like to remind you that our end-of-year potluck celebration is scheduled for tomorrow from 12 PM to 1 PM in Bayou Room 1437🍽️!

Please sign up to bring a dish if you can, but remember that you don’t have to bring anything to join us, as there will be plenty of food available🤗.

Additionally, the nominations for SWSO officer positions will close tomorrow at 6 PM. If you’d like to nominate someone, or yourself, please email us with an introduction and a brief explanation of why you or your nominee would be a good fit for the role.

‼️We are excited to announce that officer nominations are now open‼️We encourage you to nominate yourself or someone you believe would be great for a 2026-2027 leadership position. Please send your nominations to [email protected]💌. In this email, please provide a brief introduction and explain why you would be a good fit for this role!

🔹Voting will occur from April 27 through May 1.
🔹Election results will be announced on May 4!

Hello SWSO!

We have decided to cancel today’s meeting since we will be having our end-of-year celebration on the 27th🎉. Join us for a potluck-style lunch 🍽️ from 12 PM to 1 PM on the 27th as we bid farewell to our seniors and celebrate the end of the semester.

Additionally, please keep an eye 👀 out for officer elections! Start thinking about whom you would like to nominate. We look forward to seeing who will be part of our 2026-2027 officer team!

Hello SWSO,

We hope you had a fun and restful weekend! This is a reminder about our bi-monthly SWSO meeting happening tomorrow from 12:00 to 1:00 PM in Bayou Building, Room 1437.

Here are a few topics we’ll cover during the meeting:

🔹Transitioning into the Workforce Workshop - (April 6th): Join us tomorrow night at 5:30 PM for a free workshop open to all. We’ll focus on resume building, LinkedIn tips, interview preparation, and other workforce-related topics.

🔹Carnival Night - (April 18th): Mark your calendar for April 18th! Join us for fun games, delicious food, music, and prizes. We will be hosting a game booth!

🔹SWSO Officer Elections: Our elections are coming up soon! Do you have someone in mind to nominate, or are you interested in nominating yourself for a role🧐😏? Please stay tuned for more announcements soon📣!

🔹End-of-Semester Celebration: We will also discuss our plans for the end-of-semester celebration to congratulate everyone on finishing the year and to say goodbye to our Social Work Interns.

Hello SWSO🤗!

We hope you had a restful and fun Spring Break🌸! We wanted to remind you that we have our bi-monthly SWSO meeting from 12-1 pm in Bayou 1437. We have some exciting events on the horizon⬇️

🔹 Tomorrow, Mon 3/16, please join the UHCL BSW Program as they celebrate March as Social Work Month! Join us in Atrium I anytime between 11am & 5:30pm; the seniors in internship will be presenting their agencies and celebrating the impact of social work in our community!
🔹 We have our Casa Mateo Board Game Drive, which ends on March 26th. Please donate if you can!
🔹 On Monday, March 23rd, we will be having our Spring Bake Sale Fundraiser for Casa Mateo. Please stop by and purchase some baked goods from A & A Bakery.
🔹 We have a Casa Mateo Volunteer event coming up in a few weeks. We’ll be discussing details and finalizing participants in our meeting tomorrow!
