Rice University's Class of 2008 is championing a fight against food insecurity this year for our 15th reunion.
When Reunion Year Co-Chair Annie learned that Rice has students struggling with food insecurity, she felt heartbroken and embarrassed. How is it that any students at Rice, with an endowment of $8.1 billion are going hungry?
We are proud to announce that members of the Class of 2008 have partnered with Rice Development and the Student Success Initiative to create a fund specifically for this cause: the Food Insecurity Fund.
The purpose of the fund is to support food insecurity efforts for Rice students, which includes but is not limited to providing meal swipes/meal plans, granting student financial requests for groceries, or purchasing food for the Student Success Initiatives Pantry. I am honored to be part of the class fighting to end food insecurity at Rice.
