The Houston Jazz Festival is this weekend & there is a lot in store!

Friday - through the Houston Jazz Fest Educational Outreach Program will host guest artists & . They will be working with students. We will also have the honor of hosting Paul Mercer Ellington (grandson of Duke Ellington & director of the Duke Ellington Orchestra) for a guest lecture in our jazz history course.

Friday night - catch at the .room

Saturday Night - the Duke Ellington Orchestra will be performing at the theater.

Sunday - catch the TSU Jazz Ensemble at Axelrad!

TSU Jazz attended an open rehearsal for “Unearthed” project. A beautifully haunting collection of compositions tying together jazz, string quartet, poetry & visual art on the Sugarland 95.

Students from and were able to observe the creative process of putting a project like this together & ask questions to the artist themselves. Kendrick Scott on drums - piano, - bass, - sax, - spoken word.
