This summer, the 2026 USDA Pathway to University Program (USDA-PUP) Camp at UH Sugar Land welcomed 38 high school students to explore the exciting world of food and agricultural biotechnology through hands-on experiments, interactive learning and exposure to real-world research.

From sustainable agriculture to food innovation and human health, students discovered how science and technology can help solve real-world challenges.

Kailai Wang Named a 2026 Early-Career Research Fellow by the National Academies’ Gulf Research Program!

One of just eight researchers nationwide selected for the Community Track, Wang will use the two-year, $76,000 fellowship to study how transportation disruptions, infrastructure failures and climate hazards affect access to jobs, healthcare and essential services across Houston communities.
