Last Friday, two outstanding presentations from Marshall Cyber Forensics and Security program were given at the First Annual Putnam County Career and Technical Center's Cybersecurity Conference.

Current CFS student and Women In Cybersecurity - Marshall University Student Chapter Treasurer, Hope Fry gave an excellent presentation on "Networking: The Secret Ingredient to Career Success," bringing fresh perspectives on building meaningful professional connections in the cybersecurity field.

The conference, themed "Securing the Digital Frontier," also featured MUCFS faculty member and current US Cyber Team Head Coach Dr. Josh Brunty delivering the keynote speech on "The Importance of Cybersecurity Leadership: Future Challenges."

It's particularly rewarding to see our students like Hope taking the stage at professional conferences - this is what excellence in cybersecurity education looks like! 🎯

Gardner said CrowdStrike is considered “the best and the biggest” cybersecurity company in the industry and is used by the government. This situation, he said, should not deter internet users from installing updates in the future.

“One of the things we need to do to keep our computers safe is to update,” he said. “Just because you got one bad update, don’t turn off updates for your computer — that’s a very bad thing.”

HUNTINGTON — The “blue screen of death” is an infamous phenomenon well-known among information technologists, but on Friday morning, Microsoft users around the globe quickly became familiar with its negative
