💡Ambassador Spotlight💡

Ms. Sarah Simon is a senior here at SHSU majoring in Interdisciplinary Agriculture. Upon graduation, she hopes to become an Agriculture Extension Agent/ Agricultural Leadership Program Developer. Sarah is one who always gives it her all and someone who will impact many students lives. We appreciate Sarah’s dedication and being a very well rounded student! Sarah is from Cuero, Texas and graduated from Cuero High School.

Sarah chose SHSU because she fell in love with the campus environment and the welcoming energy of the faculty and students. In fact, Sarah originally wanted to attend SHSU for their Music Therapy Program, but later, during senior year of high school, she decided that she wanted to major in Agriculture instead. After touring the Fred Pirkle Engineering & Technology building and speaking to Dr. Stanley Kelley with her dad, an SHSU Agricultural Sciences Alumni, she knew that she had found the right fit for her and her college journey.

Words from Sarah, “I love the SHSU School of Agriculture because it has provided me with interesting and beneficial academic curriculum, hands on experiences and career preparedness, as well as many networking opportunities and lifelong connections. I am so grateful for all that this department does for its students, and I feel very prepared and excited to begin my career journey as an SHSU School of Agricultural Sciences Alumni”

We are so happy to have you Sarah 🧡💙

Ms. Tatum Pugh is a senior here at SHSU majoring in Interdisciplinary Agriculture. Upon graduation, she hopes to become a high school agricultural science
teacher. Tatum is someone who always brings positivity and creativity to our team. She sets a great example for all students! Tatum is from Athens, Texas and graduated from Malakoff High School.

Tatum chose Sam Houston State University because she knew that she wanted to be a high school agriculture teacher and heard that Sam Houston has the best Agriculture Education program in the state. She scheduled a tour and as soon as she stepped on campus, she had a feeling that this was exactly where she was supposed to be. She also had an advising appointment the same day and Dr. Ullrich treated her just like family. Tatum says that Sam Houston has been a second home ever since.

Words from Tatum, “I LOVE our department. The School of Ag Sciences has provided me with so many opportunities that have challenged me and pushed me to my full potential. The School of Agricultural Sciences also has the best faculty and staff that I have ever met. Every single professor in the School of Ag wants us to achieve our school and career goals and will do anything to get us there. Every professor here has a way of inspiring me to be the best person, student, and future ag teacher that I can be. I would not be the person I am today without Sam Houston State and all the amazing people that I have met along the way.”

We are so happy to have you Tatum🧡💙
