SHSU Alpha Gamma Rho - Gamma Epsilon

SHSU Alpha Gamma Rho is the Agriculture Fraternity at Sam Houston State University and is open to guys pursuing any career related to the agriculture industry.

Alpha Gamma Rho isn't like other fraternities. In AGR you'll get the opportunity to experience both a social and a professional fraternity. AGR does what you expect a social fraternity to do: socialize with other students on campus and people in the community. AGR is also like other social fraternities in that it has a strong group of members. But AGR is more than just one of those strictly social

fraternities; it is also a professional fraternity. All members of AGR have related career interests. AGR is for young men pursuing any career related to the agriculture, food or fiber industries. One more difference: at AGR there's no pledging. You join as an equal member. AGR does a careful review of all potential members in advance, so there's no need for a "weeding out" process.

Last week, brothers Rowdy Casner, Robbie McQueen, Briley Runge, and Jonathon Whalen had the opportunity to gain hands-on wildlife experience across Texas.

Starting at the Rolling Plains Quail Research Ranch, the group conducted Bobwhite call surveys, raptor surveys, dissections and parasite counts, radio telemetry tracking, and wildlife research activities. The trip later continued to SHSU alumnus William T. Byler’s 40,000-acre ranch near Uvalde, where brothers evaluated quail habitat, encountered whitetail, turkey, and hogs, and even discovered historic arrowheads along the West Nueces River.

Opportunities like these are what make AGR more than a fraternity. Experiences outside the classroom, industry connections, and hands-on learning help prepare our brothers for their future careers.

Today we celebrate a brother whose dedication, loyalty, and years of commitment to Gamma Epsilon have helped shape the chapter into what it is today. As one of the longest-standing and most experienced members of our brotherhood, Tristan has consistently led by example and represents the traditions and values of Alpha Gamma Rho with pride.

Thank you for everything you’ve poured into this chapter over the years. We’re proud to call you our brother and excited to celebrate you turning 23 today.
