Your first real deadline is probably closer than it feels. The easy start — introductions, syllabus quizzes — is over, and the assignments that count are about to come due.

Take five minutes tonight: open each course, find the first assignment worth points, and put that date somewhere you cannot miss it.

Put the course number, the week and your student ID number in the subject line when you email a question about an assignment.

"Question about the assignment" has no context — which section, which assignment, which student. An email with the course, the week and your ID number carries context, so whoever reads it can answer in a single reply.

A small habit that will get you unstuck faster all term.
