They blame COVID, but it's really an indictment of HSGPA as a placement tool, computers as dev ed teachers, and an overbearing weekly time commitment for some students to complete college-level and developmental requirements simultaneously.

Corequisite is for those assessed as "slightly" underprepared - not all underprepared students.

In an April meeting, presidents at North Carolina community colleges voted to stop the statewide rollout of RISE, a remedial education model.
