Our Story
What is diversity? The word diversity is a broad term that refers to the variety of personal experiences, values, and worldviews that arise from differences of culture and circumstance. Examples of such differences include race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, language, abilities / disabilities, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, citizenship, family status, political views, military experience, and geographic region. Alone, diversity is a description, but when used as a concept to drive equity, diversity becomes a practice of valuing all humanity; a means of increasing access and inclusion; a framework for creating a community that nurtures learning and growth for all of its members; and an individual and collective responsibility for combating prejudice and discrimination through a gained understanding of these issues during our education, training, and engagement with others. At UAH, we embrace diversity as the key to our sustainable and progressive future.-UAH ODEI website
