SHSU Educational Leadership K12 Programs SHSU's Department of Educational Leadership prepares professionals to be leaders in a variety of set The doctoral program (Ed.D.)

in Educational Leadership provides the highest professional degree available to candidates who aspire to leadership positions in Education, primarily in K-12 settings. The program focuses on the general principles and techniques of administering a wide variety of schools and other education organizations and facilities, supervising educational personnel at the school or staff level, and that may p

repare individuals as general administrators and supervisors. Graduates of the doctoral degree in Educational Leadership will have acquired the knowledge and skills to lead K-12 school systems and act in a leadership and consulting capacity in diverse educational organizations. The doctoral program focuses on developing leader-scholars who are prepared to effectively lead educational organizations by (a) supporting professional development for instructional improvement; (b) applying evidence-based practices in educational research and program evaluation through research design and interpretation; and (c) advocating for sound policies that support the success of all students.

Today, we celebrate the remarkable career and legacy of Dr. Julie Combs β€” a true pillar of the Department of Educational Leadership.

For over twenty years, Dr. Combs has dedicated her heart, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to shaping leaders, mentoring colleagues, and transforming the lives of countless students. Her impact extends far beyond the classroom. She has been an exceptional professor, a trusted mentor, a supportive colleague, and a cherished friend to so many.

Her presence helped define the spirit of our department β€” one grounded in excellence, compassion, leadership, and service. The legacy she leaves behind is monumental, reflected in the generations of educational leaders she inspired and empowered throughout her career.

While retirement marks the closing of one extraordinary chapter, her influence and contributions will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
