Recently Hutchinson Community College hosted the 2026 Research & Leadership Symposium. The symposium gives Presidential scholars a chance to show off projects that they worked on throughout the semester along with their faculty mentors. This year we had two drafting majors take part. They did a wonderful job both on their projects and their presentations!

This week students in Architectural Drafting II have been learning to create more complex roofs. They have learned to create curved, mansard, gambrel, Dutch hip roofs, and dormers using Autodesk Revit.

Each semester the Hutchinson Community College student government association hosts a medallion hunt during homecoming week. Students are given clues throughout the week to the whereabouts of the medallions. We have partnered with them for several years to model and 3D print unique medallions based upon the homecoming theme. Here is a look at the medallions for this semester, coming soon to secret locations around our campus!

This week our students had the opportunity to learn how Autodesk Revit and Navisworks are utilized in the design/build process at Hutton in Wichita, KS. Huge thanks to Josh, Joe, Jay, Casey, and the rest of the amazing people at Hutton for welcoming us!

Congratulations to professor Chadwick for being recognized this past weekend as the Wichita Thunder educator of the game! Professor Chadwick has attended Wichita Thunder games since 1994 and really enjoyed the chance to highlight the Computer Drafting program at Hutchinson Community College!

Earlier this semester we took part in a recruiting event at the Kansas State Fairgrounds. Thousands of students from high schools and middle schools across Kansas were there to learn about career opportunities. The best part of this activity was hearing our current students tell others about the HutchCC CAD program!
