What a spectacular year it was for our Swingin’ Gyrenes. There were countless shining moments throughout the season and we are so proud of our teams’ performances and accomplishments. There were dozens of school records taken down and this team was the best scoring team in Gyrene history! We are now looking forward to what the future holds since this new bar has been set. Go Gyrenes!

What a year it has been for the Swingin' Gyrenes! With the regular season complete and only the Conference Championships left for both of our teams, it is fun to look back on the excursions of our golfers throughout the course of the year. Not only has the team produced results never before seen in our school's history, but they have done it all the while traveling to places many of our players had never seen before. This year, the Golf Team has played in a collective 16 different tournaments, tallying 45 total competitive rounds. They have pounded the pavement on route to fourteen of their tournaments, and have gone wheels up for two. Altogether, they have journeyed over 7200 miles to get to their destinations.

The Gyrene Women wrapped up their tournament in St. Augustine. Not their finest playing but they will be coming back to campus looking to work out the kinks in preparation for their next event in two weeks!

The Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational is all wrapped up and the Men finished tied for 10th place. They only got better every round, shooting scores of 311-309-302. Gabe DeCasas was the low man of the team at +7 on the tournament which gave him a top-20 finish.

The Gyrenes are getting ready this week for two tournaments. The Men will be competing up in the Georgia woods while the Women are looking to make some magic happen in North Florida. Both tournaments will feature live scoring on GolfStat, but you may also follow the tournaments through our social media pages. Good luck to our teams!!

Attention Gyrene Nation: we are proud to announce our latest Golf Signee, Maya Berglund! From Indiana, Maya most recently is a State Champion and looks to bring that success to Ave Maria next year. Miss Berglund’s favorite golfer is Lexi Thompson and a fun fact about herself is she loves collecting shoes! She is excited to be at AMU, “for the amazing Catholic education, and being able to play golf with amazing girls in Florida.” We eagerly await Maya’s arrival! Go Gyrenes!!!

Gyrene Nation!!! We are proud to welcome our latest golf signee, Matt Mullen. Coming from Ohio, Matt brings an established tournament record from the Ohio junior circuits. He has also won the Oscar Scheufler Sportsmanship Award Voted by the Players and has accomplished a ranking in the top 15 of the GolfWeekJuniorTour. We are excited and blessed to have him apart of the team. Go Gyrenes!!!

Welcome to the Gyrene Nation, Troy Nason!! Troy hails from Illinois and was a part of the recent 2021 IHSA State Champion Glenbrook North Spartans. He has proven himself on the Junior golf circuits and is looking forward to teeing it up with the big boys after he graduates in the Spring! We are excited for Nason to be a part of the team.
