AUDITIONS for the Rend Lake College Fall Play: "FAME" are taking place Tuesday, September 3 @ 6 PM in the RLC Theatre. Actors ages 16 and up are welcome. If you are cast, you will be asked to sign up for THEA 1102 (Theatre Practicum) to earn 3 Elective credits - the tuition is FREE (but there will be some Tech Fees required). Actors need to know how to sing "America the Beautiful," even though this is not a musical. Some dancing will be required; dance steps will be taught at the start of the auditions so please be on time to learn them. This is a play that will require both comedic timing and the dramatic abilities of all actors. There are "teacher" roles in this production (in case you are not so fond of dancing).
The play will run November 7 - 10th. Rehearsals will take place Mondays - Thursdays from 6 - 9 PM.

A packed house at RLC - just FULL of lively grade-school kids this morning for our 10:00 A.M. matinee! We have one final performance at 1 P.M. and then we will pack away the costumes, store the props, clean up backstage, strike down the set, put everything away, ship the rented backdrop back to the east coast and finally eat some pizza and then return to the "real" world. This cast and crew has been such a delight to direct and I'm going to miss them in a huge way. They are my 2nd family now and I love them all.

For those of you who homeschool your children, we have some seats left open for the 1 PM performance TODAY! Flummoxed Fairy Tales is a hilarious take on classic fairy tales with some new twists - and it's completely free - a gift to the community so children can experience the wonder of LIVE theatre!

Thursday and Friday this week, my wonderful and talented cast will be entertaining hundreds of grade-school children, as they perform in the annual production of "Flummoxed Fairy Tales," at Rend Lake College! I am so very proud of them - everyone is just so talented!

I am looking for talented artistic students (or those who want to BECOME talented and artistic) to sign up for Stage Makeup (THEA 1105) offered this fall at Rend Lake College. Classes meet from 12 - 2 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays - this is the class where you will learn special effects makeup, corrective makeup, old age, historical likeness, realistic bruising and wounds, how to slim your face visually with makeup, how look like an animal, and even fantasy makeup! Even if you are not a stage performer, these makeup skills are great to develop - Halloween happens every year! PM me if you want to know more!
