IUP Curriculum & Instruction Doctoral Program

IUP Curriculum & Instruction Doctoral Program The Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction prepares you to become a college faculty member or a curriculum specialist.

Influence the future of education and enhance your scholarly credentials with the Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction at IUP. This program is designed for those who are beginning or continuing careers in higher
education and for those who would like to become curriculum specialists in
public, private, and independent schools. The program is designed for both full-time and part-tim

e study; thus, it is ideal for those who seek to maintain full-time employment while pursuing the doctorate. This fully accredited program is offered at three sites: IUP's main campus in Indiana, Pennsylvania; IUP's Monroeville site in the Pittsburgh-area; and the Dixon University Center in Harrisburg. Classes take place on the weekends and include a blend of face-to-face, video-conferencing and online instruction. Successful completion of the doctorate in curriculum and instruction signifies that program graduates function effectively as teacher/scholars who: (1) understand and apply educational theory, (2) demonstrate competence in curriculum evaluation, (3) fulfill the role of teacher educator committed to working with diverse populations, and (4) conduct independent research that makes a significant contribution to the field of education. The program leading to a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction is an applied sequence of courses, experiences, and research for individuals who are seeking to pursue careers in higher education or to become curriculum experts and professional development specialists in public, private, and independent schools.
