We empower all students, faculty, and staff and our broader community to participate in Butler’s commitment to environmental stewardship and making a meaningful difference in the face of climate change. Through this mission we aim to exemplify The Butler Way and inspire our community, institution, and the next generation of leaders to become change makers for environmental, social, and economic well-being.

Move-out is upon us! As you go through your belongings, keep what you need, donate what you can, recycle what’s accepted, and trash anything that can’t be disposed of any other way.

By practicing proper disposal during move-out, you can reduce waste sent to landfill, give items a second life, and give back to our Indy community.

During Dine-In Day, 92% of the Butler community chose to dine in instead of taking their food to-go. Choosing to dine in helps reduce single-use packaging, gets your food scraps composted, and cuts down on food-related waste across campus.

Not only does dining in help Butler get closer to our Zero Waste by 2030 goal, it also creates space to slow down, share a meal, and connect with the Butler community.

Out of 2,040 guests, only 151 guests took their meals to-go—that’s just 7%! And of those who did take food to-go (because sometimes we have places to be), 100% used Blue-To-Go containers. Proof that even when you’re in a rush, you can still make sustainable choices.

Together, we did it! But you don’t need Dine-In Day to choose to eat in. When you return from Spring Break, let’s keep the momentum going—help Butler reach our sustainability goals and continue building the community we aspire to be.
