Mission:
The mission of Lifted Hands Homeschool is to help every child reach their full potential in academia, while improving their self esteem and self confidence through creativity and arts involvement. We strive to patiently work with students who may have struggled in the past and help them feel confident in where they are, while gently aiding and encouraging them to exceed their current real
ity. My specialty as an educator is in working with students who have fallen behind academically. I work to assist these students in “catching up”, filling in gaps and rebuilding their self confidence, which may have suffered due to prior academic performance. I also specialize in working with students who are academically advanced. I encourage these students to never settle for where they are, and to continue their progress and rise even higher. I challenge them with greater works and responsibilities. The number one goal of any teacher is to see those figurative light bulbs light up over their students’ heads! That “eureka” moment is why we put in this work. I believe that a child’s potential is as great and as vast as we allow it to be. When children BELIEVE they ARE great and that mediocrity is not an option, they will be great! "As a man thinketh, so is he". Proverbs 23:7
When our children believe that they are great and have confidence in what their minds can achieve, they are not afraid to be called on in class or lift their hands when asked for an answer. Who We Are:
Lifted Hands is a home-based educational institution, specializing in the education of students grade K-8. ABOUT ME:
My mother set a standard for my life that has stayed with me to this day. When she embarked upon the journey of motherhood, she also began a journey of home education that had a profound and lasting effect on me. Without any formal education beyond high school, my mother, Mother Linda as she was affectionately called, homeschooled each of her seven children. I continued my education under my mother’s wing until I entered the 9th grade. With the firm and loving foundation my mother gave me, I graduated from high school in the top of my class and was blessed to be accepted at several prominent colleges and universities in California, including the University of California, Los Angeles where I chose to attend. When it came time to choose an education for my own children, I knew I wanted to have a hand in how they were educated. I was a private school elementary and high school teacher when my first daughters were born. I had the privilege of instructing my eldest daughter through pre-k and kindergarten before she matriculated through the school. When my third child was on the way, I decided that I was ready to take the reigns of my children’s education full time. Today, my journey is to share my passion and what I have learned in my nearly 20 year sojourn in education with those who need it. Through personal consultations, guides to community and curriculum resources and support, my goal is to see families through to the successful education of their children, whatever that may look like for them. Lifted Hands welcomes families who, for whatever reason, are unable to commit to the education of their children at home. We welcome you and your child with love and understanding and strive to give them every opportunity to rise.
