We’ve reached Day 10 of 10 Days of Women’s Philanthropy—and our snowy village is glowing 🌌

Over these ten days, we’ve celebrated gratitude, GivingTuesday, women’s leadership in the great wealth transfer, collective giving, research-based donor tools, generational legacies, strong donor relationships, milestones for women and girls, and the next generation of givers.

WPI research reminds us that giving is deeply linked to joy and connection—and that when women lead in philanthropy, communities benefit. Thank you for being part of this community.

Day 9: The Future of Giving Is Here 🌱

The Next Generation of Philanthropy report finds that younger donors are deeply issue-driven and often focus on environmental and social justice causes more than older generations. Their giving goes beyond writing checks: they engage through ethical purchasing, impact investing, volunteering, and using social media to learn, advocate, and give.

Gen Z and Millennial donors also prefer flexible, trust-based approaches with fewer restrictions and long-term relationships with the causes they support. How are you engaging the next generation in your family or organization’s philanthropy? Learn more: https://hdl.handle.net/1805/45452

Data from the Women & Girls Index (WGI) show that, for the first time, giving to women’s and girls’ organizations has surpassed 2% of total U.S. philanthropic giving. 🎉

In addition to tracking this overall share, the WGI provides granular information on how philanthropic dollars are distributed across subsectors within the women- and girls-serving landscape.

Donors, advisors, and researchers can use WGI to see which types of organizations receive more or less support, explore how funding patterns vary across the U.S., and identify where their own giving may align with or complement current philanthropic flows.

☕ Day 7 of 10 Days of Women’s Philanthropy is all about relationships.

From WPI’s research on household decision making to studies on trust and transparency, we see again and again that women donors value connection—with causes, communities, and the people behind the work.

If you’re a fundraiser, now is the time to deepen those ties. Check out this year-end donor toolkit from the Chronicle of Philanthropy: https://tinyurl.com/5n8b9j9r

Day 6: We Stand on Their Shoulders 💐

From early suffrage leaders to quiet neighborhood organizers, women’s philanthropy has long powered change. WPI research on intergenerational giving finds that when parents give—and talk about giving—their children are more likely to give as adults, with especially strong links for daughters.

Who are the women whose generosity shaped you? Tag them or share a story in the comments.

💖 Day 4 of 10 Days of Women’s Philanthropy is all about collective giving.

From small, local circles to national networks, women are coming together to pool their time, talent, treasure, and testimony. WPI research finds that women are more likely than men to participate in giving circles and other forms of collective giving—turning shared generosity into greater change.

Curious how giving circles work and how they’re redefining who gets to be a philanthropist? Learn more: https://hdl.handle.net/1805/17789

Women Are Shaping the Future of Giving ✨

As historic amounts of wealth change hands, our Women Give research series shows that women often give more broadly, support a wider range of causes, and demonstrate resilience in their generosity. That means women’s leadership will be critical in the decades ahead—across families, foundations, and communities. Explore the Women Give series: https://hdl.handle.net/1805/6336

It’s ! 🌟

On Day 2 of 10 Days of Women’s Philanthropy, we’re highlighting the Women & Girls Index (WGI) as a tool for informed, intentional giving. The WGI maps thousands of U.S. organizations that focus on women and girls and provides data on how philanthropic support is distributed across subsectors.

You can use the WGI database to:
• Explore organizations by location or issue area
• See which types of women- and girl-serving organizations receive more or less support
• Identify organizations that align with your own giving priorities

Step into the village. ❄️

Next week, we’ll launch 10 Days of Women’s Philanthropy—a seasonal series highlighting generosity, connection, and women’s leadership in giving. Behind each door is a new insight from WPI research, from what inspires women to give to how they engage family, friends, and networks in their philanthropy.

As GivingTuesday and year-end campaigns approach, we invite you to follow along, learn from the data, and celebrate the many ways women give.
Stay tuned for Day 1 next week.

More than 80 nonprofits will share $250 million from Melinda French Gates to advance women’s health around the world — many of them local, community-based organizations.

Women’s Philanthropy Institute research shows this is part of a broader trend: in All In for Women & Girls, we found that donors to women’s funds and foundations (most of whom are women) give more and are especially likely to support women’s and girls’ causes.

This is a vivid example of the impact of women’s growing wealth and leadership in philanthropy.
