Psi U launched our stakeholder survey on Wednesday, and we’re grateful for the strong response so far! You should have received an email invitation—if not, please update your contact information at https://psiu.wufoo.com/forms/update-your-address/ and we’ll send you a copy so you can participate.

Over the past year, the Executive Council and Foundation Boards have focused on strengthening Psi Upsilon’s future by improving communication, expanding programming, and enhancing engagement across the brotherhood. This survey is your opportunity to help shape that work. Whether you’re an undergraduate, alumnus, volunteer, donor, or friend of the fraternity, your voice matters.

To encourage participation over Memorial Day weekend, everyone who completes the survey between Friday and end of day Monday will be entered into a special drawing for a $50 Amazon Gift Card.

On this day 97 years ago—May 18, 1929—William Howard Taft, Beta 1878 (Yale) was honored at the Psi Upsilon Convention held at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., during his tenure as Chief Justice of the United States. When Convention organizer Barry Mohun, Eta 1896 (Lehigh) invited him personally, Chief Justice Taft’s secretary explained that he no longer attended large gatherings or social functions. But when Taft learned the invitation was from Psi Upsilon, he simply replied:
“This is Psi U—this is different.”

Happy 135th anniversary to the Tau Chapter at the University of Pennsylvania, founded on May 5, 1891. The chapter’s historic home—completed in 1899 and designed by the distinguished architectural firm Hewitt & Hewitt—reflects the deep legacy of Psi Upsilon at Penn. Notably, John M. O. Hewitt, Tau 1899, was a member of the chapter during its construction.

The limestone used for the house was generously donated by Dr. Joseph Price, Theta 1875 (Union College), sourced from the quarries on his farm in Whitford, Pennsylvania. Built in a distinctive castellated style, the residence quickly earned its enduring nickname, “The Castle,” among students and faculty.

Pictured is the chapter house circa 1900, a testament to the chapter’s long-standing presence and architectural heritage.

Happy 30th Anniversary to the Phi Delta Chapter at the University of Mary Washington, founded on April 28, 1996! Although Mary Washington College opened in 1908, it remained an all-women’s institution until 1970 — and Psi Upsilon became the first fraternity ever chartered on campus.

Following is a collection of photos highlighting the chapter’s history, including the founding brothers at the 1996 chartering ceremony and memorable moments from the decades that followed
